Making Light of Being Called a Bush Hater
The Pensito Review posted an entertaining comment on the favorite ad homonym attack of the right wing: being called a Bush hater. "Confessions of a Bush Hater" is a relaxed and humorous take on the shameless mendacity of the right wing.

While I understand and appreciate the author's approach to countering the depressing dump of baseless accusations that predictably follow any unflattering comment or appalling revelation of our fumbler and chief, I think the reality based community has made a serious strategic error in failing to understand the corrosive effects of these shameless attacks.
The subtle tools of irony and staying above the fray are simply lost on those who swallow the twisted rhetoric of the power seekers.
They have neglected to counter these brazen assaults effectively and have given the moral high ground to those who should never have it.
These seemingly ridiculous attacks need to be countered with more than derision.
They require a strong dose of reality and placement of blame firmly where it belongs; on the backs of the accusers.
We have let these people sow doubt and derision where none should exist and allowed the perpetrators to hide behind the most shameless and deliberate of lies.
The corrosive affect on the public discourse is serious.
The false divisions this unopposed mendacity has created are more than bad for the country. Dividing the nation is a dangerous enterprise.
Dividing for no other reason than forcing through an unpopular agenda and to gain illegitimate power is nothing less than treasonous.
Below is the comment I posted on the Pensito Review
"I believe you should strongly object to being called a Bush hater and especially if it isn't true. Not objecting vigorously to the fantasies and outright lies of the far right has allowed them frame the debate so that lies are true and truth are lies. This assault on truth has cost the nation dearly.
It is also objectionable because it is meant to be a discount. In other words, your opinion doesn't count because you blindly hate the actor, Bush.
The fact is that people dislike Bush for some very valid reasons:
his limitless corruption and the corruption he attracts and tolerates,
his disdain for the rule of law; domestic and international,
his callousness and cruelty,
his mendacity and governance by deception,
his disregard for the US constitution and true American values,
his criminal incompetence and willful ignorance,
being elected by intentional and massive disenfranchisement of voters, twice,
for wasting the lives, the treasure and the potential for a bright future for America and Americans.
He was clearly unprepared for and undeserving of his elevated position and as such, has severely degraded both the nation and the office of president.
To not dislike this man for his actions requires shutting off all rational thought and a stern refusal to recognize reality.
Once his defenders realize the depth of depravity, they cannot like or support him. We have seen that reflected in the polls when on the rare occasions the media do their jobs.
It has been the main occupation of the press and his protectors to keep us in the dark by refusing to report broadly, truthfully or critically and labeling all revelations of his misdeeds and criminality the inventions of his "critics" and "Bush haters". "
We cannot afford to fall in with such insidious opining, even in jest.
