Flogging a Dead War (Crime)
The blood money industry never stops. Even though their very good Republican friends in the White House and congress have taken a hit from voters sickened by the bloody war machine run by the Bush administration and tired of starved domestic priorities gave both houses of congress to the Democrats. No matter, the war industry and their friends in government are out early and late lying, preying on the fears of under-informed Americans, buying congressmen and women and lying, lying, lying.
Democrats who have claimed for years that they had no power when they were in the minority should take note of how the war profiteer’s friends in public service and the press operate. A huge majority of the country is pushing for withdrawal from Iraq and supposedly, their people are in power.
Are the GOP appeasing the all powerful Democrats? Are they going to support the Democratic agenda in the interest of "let's all be friends? Nope. Are they whining about bi-partisanship? A little.
Mostly the GOP and their friends at Titan, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Blackwater and CACI are acting like nothing happened.
Their friends in congress are warning that withdrawal would be a ghastly mistake.
President flack delivered his nonsensical homily “We can win in Iraq if we don’t quit.” His supposition that this might be a lesson learned from the evacuating US troops from Saigon off of rooftops by helicopter as the opposing army marched into to town reveals the limited intellect and deep confusion that allows grafters and ideologues to drive the ship of state. His message, though meant to garner popular support for even more sacrifice on their part, was also a message to his friends in the war profiteering industry that he has not abandoned them.
The war industry have deployed the pitiful but ambitious John McCain to push Viet Nam redux: 40,000 more servings of US Prime red meat for the Iraqi nationalists to take out their anger and frustration on. It's code word for escalate.
McCain, undaunted by the fact that the country is unlikely to elect someone suffering from battered wives syndrome in '08, has betrayed whatever sad remnant of moral authority accrued as a POW in America’s last military failure. He busily does to another generation what was done to him.
"the pathetic piety and vicious virtue of old men's lies........."
The highly visable ass kissing by McCain of his abusers in the GOP was painful enough to watch this last election cycle. It’s almost unbearable to see what he willing to do to build a war chest for his nonsensical presidential bid.
Joe Lieberman, having not decided which political party to align himself with, is probably the most powerful man in the Senate. He has swung both ways on this issue. He staunchly supported the war before his re-election. During his GOP funded campaign, he managed to lie enough to make at least some voters think he favored withdrawal. A few hard home truths from the defense industry and his friends in Israel who think the war has benefited Israel’s ambitions and watch Joe flack for war. We can always hope that Joe’s petty cash problem catches up with him. Voter’s who thought he favored withdrawal should hold his feet to the fire.
The Washington Post, having spent the last five years perjuring itself, had no trouble blandly asserting that getting the hell out of Iraq is not supported by Democrats. There are a handful of DLC die hards who feed off the war machine’s tit that don’t want the glory days to end. However Murtha’s redeployment plan has 103 Democratic sponsors. Behind the Democrats is a nation seething with discontent over the sheer mendacity and wanton waste of it all.
There may be no good choices in Iraq but there certainly plenty of bad ones.
The worst possible choice is to allow the horror to continue under US auspices. Iraqis overwhelmingly want us out. Regional experts believe they have a better chance of achieving stability without a US presence.
Most independent authorities agree that even if the US had a legitimate reason for being in Iraq, there is nothing militarily that the US can accomplish anymore. In other words, except for massaging the ego’s of the “crazies in the basement” and agreeing to cut into the illegal profits of war profiteers and the energy industry we have absolutely no reason to remain within Iraq's borders.
We know the war was based on lies and some of the most debased ideology and senseless greed ever to find its way into our government.
We know that no matter what President Nitwit says aggressive war is a war crime, the most serious of all war crimes, everywhere and all the time.
So when the chicken-hawks start to crow, plug your ears, turn the page or change the channel. This is soooo over.
