Democrats Fish for the Netroots

The DNC keeps in touch with party activists by delivering regular emails with recommended talking points and suggestions for letter writing and editorials.

The messages are light years behind the voters and frightenly out of touch.
If Iraq is in the news, the Democrats will talk about raising the minimum wage.
If US torture is being exposed and condemned by the world community, the Democrats will be talking about GOP corruption.

The hear no evil , see no evil, speak no evil strategy of the judgment impaired, grossly overpaid, corrupt political strategists has served to marginalize the Democratic party while greatly increasing their own access to opportunity.

Today's message attacks the neo-cons for having no plan to win in Iraq.
It toys around with supporting Rep. Murtha without actually having congressional Democrats stand behind him. It's probably a sop for progressives who feel used by the party and are angry with party leader's tomfoolery.

Alice Germond, party secretary delivers the party message to the netroots.
To her credit, she is remarkably accessable, though completely unwilling to do anything but defend the message.

Periodically, I respond to her, in the vain hope that she will experience an Aha! or share my complaints with someone who will.

I started out being much more circumspect. After hearing her defend the indefensible one too many times, (the selling out of the Supreme Court for example) I am more direct.

If she won't hear what I have to say, perhaps she'll hear my anger and disgust. That has to matter when your reason to be is public support.

Dear Alice,

The way I see it, both parties are guilty of poor planning.
The GOP don't have a plan for war and the Dems don't have a plan to win the
November elections.

The
lobbyist/strategists have been responsible for pressuring incombents into backing an unappealing, pro-corporate, anti-populist agenda that is causing open rebellion in the party.
The neutered Democratic platform isn't inspiring Democratic voters, let alone disaffected GOP, swing voters and non voters (the largest class of US voters).

The willingness of Democrats to back the war crime that is Iraq conflates them with the war
criminals of the GOP.
The war wasn't a "mistake". It was a deliberate effort to mislead Americans into a dangerous war of aggression/occupation that the Democrats should not have supported and now refuse to recant. You can't "win" a war crime. You stop it.

The refusal of Democrats to stand against brazen criminality and illegality is a massive
vote loser. As long as Democrats stand by and let the GOP steal our
treasury and put our grandchildren in debt, they are judged by voters to be just
as corrupt as the GOP. Polls bear this out.

The unwillingness of Democrats to address the broken voting system that robs them of
election after election makes the Democratic voters think that all the party leader care about
is lining their own pockets.

The abject servility and the absence of moral courage within the Democratic Party discourages voters from voting for Democrats in dangerous times.
How can Americans justify voting for people that can be controlled by smear campaigns when there are terrorists knocking at the gates?

This is a critical election for our nation. The Bush cabal is a highly dangerous group that threatens the very foundations of our nation. The tragedy is that Democrats could win it hands
down if they acted like real Democrats.
