Cheney Endangers All

When VP Cheney came out yesterday and talked about Joe Lieberman’s primary defeat encouraging terrorists everywhere, I thought it was time to talk to his boss.

Mr. President,
I am very concerned about your vice president and think you should be as well.
His co-opting of your role in crafting foreign policy is very worrying on two levels.

The first issue is the role of the vice president as proscribed by the Constitution. It gives the vice president two jobs; to take over the presidency if you die, become incapacitated or are removed from office and to act as the nominal head of the Senate who votes only in case of a tie.

Not only is foreign policy not his job, but there is also the issue of the quality of his work. You may have noticed that he is doing an incredibly bad job.

Vice President Cheney’s policies and their ham-fisted implementation have left Afghanistan in turmoil and resulted in the destruction of Iraq along with uncontrollable sectarian violence. Hundreds of thousands have died needlessly, 2600 of them were Americans.
Yet it seems he prefers to see our fine fighting men and women be maimed or killed than admit he's wrong.

Now he has Israel launching an illegal invasion of Lebanon in hopes of launching a wider war in the Middle East. This is the foreign policy of Attila the Hun not the United States of America.
Here is another tragic, no win situation in which thousands of civilians suffer and die all because of his hubris, insatiable greed and deplorable ignorance.
This latest undertaking is far more dangerous and has a much more uncertain outcome than Iraq. He will end up making America a legitimate military target.

It should be very clear to you that he should not be allowed to make any more decisions about anything.

If you had checked his record more carefully before you allowed him to choose himself as your running mate, you might have noticed that he has brought
disgrace down upon every president he has served. The only thing he excels at is self-promotion.

Even his stint in private industry ended in bringing that company to its knees. It has taken hundreds of billions of dollars of government handouts that should have been used to repair aging infrastructure and to protect our shores to bail them out.

His behavior is erratic. Just look at what happened when he went hunting. Every statement he makes is either incoherent or a lie.

Imagine someone thinking that Iraq has anything to do with Al Qaida nearly three years after your own intelligence apparatus disproved that allegation. Imagine him thinking anyone would believe him.
Obviously he can’t tell a foreign terrorist from an insurgent or a civil war from an Al Qaida attack.
He certainly is in a position to know that there are a relatively small number of foreigners involved in the insurgency and that they are only tolerated because they are helping to fight against the US occupation of their country. Yet he refuses to take that information in.

He and his crony, Donald Rumsfeld keep putting our soldiers in harms way in Iraq for no good reason because he has deluded himself into believing he is fighting Al Qaida. It’s deplorable.
The very least the American people should be able to expect from their leaders is their ability to recognize who is and is not a threat to the safety of this county.

Now Mr. Cheney thinks the well-deserved defeat of corrupt, over confident Democratic Senator has something to do with Al Qaida. To him, everything is Al Qaida; even the Democrats. That is paranoia at its most extreme.

If you value your presidency and your own safety, you had best ask him to resign immediately. While you're about it, get his Siamese twin Donald Rumsfeld to step down. No one wants an idiot as head of the armed forces. He can’t even speak coherently. Can you imagine the confusion that must result from any orders he gives?

We will certainly cannot afford any more of his blundering in the infinitely more dangerous, post Cheney world.
Yours truly

CarolDW
