The Dumbest Congress Ever

George W. Bush is undoubtedly the most ignorant man ever to be president of the United States. He is also the most corrupt, dishonest and dangerous.
His presidency has been, by every measure and on every level, an absolute failure.
Sadly, it needn’t have been so.

Congress has the power to stop the degenerate agenda of the neo-cons at any time. They have the power to stop the president from breaking law and from starting wars of aggression. They could end torture tomorrow and the sadists in the White House and in the field couldn’t do a damn thing about it. They could force the president to quit his drunken spree and restore fiscal responsibility.

They have stupidly and irresponsibly refused to do so.

No matter what the presidential agenda, be it boon or a boondoggle, presidents can only propose and administer. They may not legislate. Their dreamy eyed visions of grateful Iraqis throwing flowers and cous cous cannot become a reality or a nightmare without congress granting them the power and opening the purse strings.

It is congress that turned the medieval bankruptcy bill into law. Since most bankruptcies happen because of a medical emergency, you’d think they would act to fix the bloated healthcare and insurance industry driven system that eats up the family fortunes and functions so poorly. You’d be wrong. They gave it steroids. They didn’t forget to screw granny either by passing the incredibly expensive and ineffective Medicare Part D. They did all this, expecting to be re-elected. Dumb? You bet.

From the he funding of illegal wars and evangelical churches to letting incompetent cronies suck up our civil rights, constitutional legality is as rare as a dodo bird.

The president may be an ignorant prude who thinks that abstinence only sex education is a good thing but it is congress that enables the cruel hoax to be perpetrated on our children. It didn’t work for Georgie when he was tearing up the Texas countryside and it didn’t work for Duke Cunningham but that doesn’t prevent congress from putting it the tab. If you conceive because your biology won over your shoddy sex education and you are female, you must be punished. If it sounds like something out of the era of witch trials and dunking stools, you’d be right.

From the failure to stem the terrorist tide to the bitter fruit of cruel and arrogant militarism, it is congress that must ultimately shoulder the blame for the ghastly beginning this nation has made on a brand new century.

When it comes to graft and corruption; it’s 535 (minus a dozen or so) little monkeys who see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.
They are counting on your and my offspring to pick up the tap for their five-year binge. By allowing higher education to be virtually unaffordable, stymieing new industries like alternative energy development and biomedicine and rewarding feckless corporations that ship jobs overseas, they have ignorantly closed the doors on that possibility.

Congress has confirmed an awesome array of incompetent kooks, cronies and ghouls to positions of awesome power and authority. The haunted looking Michael Chertoff, the terrorist’s friend was confirmed as Director of Homeland Security the senescent Rumsfeld was given the nod twice to lose wars, destroy the morale of our soldiers and our military preparedness. They have confirmed an Enron lawyer to exercise oversight on how companies conduct business and another that used to head the FEC. They have confirmed men with unsavory reputations in industry to be in charge of the treasury. A governor who excelled in trading away Utah’s natural resources in backroom deals was confirmed to head the EPA and results have been predictable.
Condi Rice is the only Secretary of State to allow an foreign attack to occur on American soil. She publicly lied about her role in that fiasco to the investigating body. Her stunning failing and mendacity did not trigger any attempt at accountability in the House or the Senate. Instead the Senate rewarded her astonishing failure and bold faced lying by confirming her as Secretary of State.
How many civilians would she have to allow to be murdered before the Senate thought she was qualified to be president? .

Eighty per cent of Americans think corporations have too much power. How did the congressional “brain trust” respond? They gave us a corporate dream team for the Supreme Court. Now fellow citizens, if you or your family are poisoned, crushed or given cancer by an irresponsible corporation, or your land confiscated, you will have no recourse in the highest court in the land.

Confirming anti-choice judges like Roberts and Alito should compel any female living in this country to contribute every dime and ounce of energy they can to make sure that all but a handful of incumbents do not return to Washington, ever.

This bunch of yokels who call themselves Senators and Representatives are hell bent on keeping human remains alive and giving blastocysts civil rights. However they don’t give a rip that you can’t afford health care for you very much alive self and family or that you cannot go and hear the president speak unless you sign a loyalty oath. Those that don’t buy the fundamentalist flim flam are all too willing bend over backwards to appease the barking dogs.
These arrogant ninnies are too stupid to keep their mouths shut about their own sexual peccadilloes and nasty enough to use the power of their elected office to promote a frightening misogynistic, homophobic, racist agenda.

They don’t want you to burn the flag but several hundred thousand brown people can burn or be die of preventable disease because we illegally bombed their water treatment facility. Torture? Sure. Red meat for the masses. Make them pay for what they did to us. But what happens when “them” is cousin Johnny or Jenny?

Thanks to Diebold, corrupt election officials and political dirty tricks,(many highly illegal), congress is populated with a group of degenerate White House sycophants who are too stupid to figure out that Rove’s idea of governance is a one way ticket to prison and infamy.
Even worse are the cowards on both sides of the aisle who blindly follow.

I think it is safe to assume that the US The House of Representatives and Senate contain the greatest concentration of arrogant dunces on the planet.

It’s hard to figure out where the stupidity ends and the hubris begins.
Instead of solving the problems our nation faces, congress opts overwhelmingly to “appear to be solving problems” while feathering their own nests and ensuring their own political futures. It’s a dog and pony show for the plebs that inevitably leads to crisis.
Just look at what has happened to our military. If a real military threat should occur to our nation, God help us. These days no body in their right mind will join the military so they have to accept those that aren’t. Arming social deviants and training them to be killers will haunt us for a generation.

We have known for decades that tax breaks to wealthy individuals and corporations do not stimulate the economy and they didn’t. All it does is produce a dangerous concentration of wealth and impoverish everyone else.
Every economist knows that putting tax breaks for the uber wealthy on a credit card is stupidly foolish and lowering taxes when you are exponentially increasing military spending and fighting wars is madness. Congress knows better and legislated us into economic midnight anyway. That’s a lot of stupid.

It isn’t rocket science to figure out that if you want a healthy economy, traditionally the source of personal and corporate wealth and political stability, you have to have reasonable energy prices and healthy job creation. Have any of you seen anything faintly resembling legislation that would address these vital issue?
It isn’t astrophysics to figure out that American workers who are the engine of wealth need to be able to buy the goods they invent, design and manufacture in order for American business to succeed.

The corporate fat cats who fund the re-election campaigns of these useless dummies won’t be able to sell much to the impoverished Chinese, Honduran, Mexican and Asian workers they are miserably exploiting. The Europeans are doing nicely without us, thank you very much. The quality of goods they create is much higher quality than anything that comes out of corporate sweatshops and increasingly hard pressed American workers. Europeans still manage to give their workers several months vacation and a fully funded healthcare program.

Leave poor Georgie alone. He can’t help it. What do you expect from someone is the modern day equivalent of “The Princess and the Pea”; from someone who fried what brain capacity they had in an orgy of self-medication years before the power brokers stuffed and mounted him as the “prez”.
Direct your anger, your dissatisfaction and your outrage at congress. They could have, should have prevented the disaster that is the Bush presidency and didn’t.

This fall, don’t send them to back to Washington, send them home. Invest a little time and effort in your own future and help the new fresh faces win the seat that has been warmed for too many years by the same backside.
