Fighting the "Terrorists" in Iraq

Ever since the unpopular Bush administration marched the US military into Iraq against international and domestic law and common sense, the Iraqis have been understandably upset.
The justifications the Bush Administration gave for a "pre-emptive war" (always a war crime) that Iraq, in some nefarious way was behind the attacks of 9-11 and that they were amassing a stockpile of WMD's have both been proven false, though you wouldn't know it if you listen to gang of four; Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice.

No one in the international community shed tears when Hussein was driven out by "coalition forces" and even the Iraqis maintained a wait and see attitude while the US allowed the prisons to be emptied and Baghdad to be looted.
When the deposing of Saddam Hussein became an excuse for US to pillage the resources of their nation and to set up a US friendly puppet government supported by a long-term military occupation, Iraqis began to take action against the foreign invaders.

The number of foreign fighters in Iraq is small, attracted by the instability created by the failed rebuilding efforts and the repressive US military occupation. Iraqis tolerate them because they fight Americans not because the Iraqis are terrorist supporters.

As usual, when the truth proves to be inconvenient, the Bush administration ignores the truth, discredits the truth tellers and lie. They claim we are fighting terrorists. They use the old saw of preventing another 9-11. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

It’s been said a hundred times, but let me say it again. There were no foreign terrorists in Iraq before the US went in and broke everything. Even now they only make up a small percentage of the resistance.

The administration mantra that we will Iraq when Iraqis can defend themselves is nonsense. They are fighting the "coalition forces" (us) and have done a perfectly good job of pinning down a superior fighting force. When we leave, they will not need to defend themselves.

What we doing in Iraq is fighting a war of conquest. The Bush administration believes that if our soldiers kill enough Iraqis; if they are brutal enough and bloody enough, Iraq will become a nice little cash cow for themselves and the interests that “elect” and support this administration.

More than 90% of Iraqis want us out of their country. That’s up 10 points from last year. This is what our president calls progress.
What is true is that Iraqis believe they have a better chance of forming a legitimate government if the US will withdraw its military and stop meddling in their affairs. They believe they have a better chance of ridding their country of unwanted terrorists if the US military were not there attracting them.

The “terrorists” Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are sending your sons, daughters, husbands and wives to fight are the Iraqis themselves; the very folks we are supposed to be liberating. Despite having lost a quarter of million of their own, the Iraqis will not settle for anything less than their own vision of the future of Iraq and sovereignty over their own country and its resources.

That is something every American should be able to understand. Unfortunately, those that have seized the reins of power in Washington do not. Their goals seem to revolve around stuffing as many taxpayer dollars in their pockets as possible while dreaming of world domination.
It is ironic that an administration that cannot govern its own country competently craves additional responsibilites.

We should all be alarmed by the relentless mendacity of our leadership, their pathological immaturity and most of all, their eagerness to engage in the lowest form of human behavior; murdering their fellow human beings to attain more wealth and power than they all ready have.
