The Democrat's Cognitive Failure

Nancy Pelosi says no impeachment for the war criminals in the White House.
Howard Dean says there will be no dramatic change in Iraq policy.
Dick Durbin says congress will not unleash a spate of investigations against the GOP.
Charlie Rangel says there are no plans to roll back tax cuts.

Do you get the feeling that someone, somewhere in the Democratic Party really doesn’t understand the mood of the country? That they don’t really care what we think or want?

70% of Americans want us out of Iraq. That is not a mandate for existing policy.
Every American wants Washington cleaned up, even the Evangelicals.
Every American, with the exception of a dangerous group of people involved with the evangelical movement want the US to be a constitutional democracy and a nation of laws.
Impeachment isn’t a choice, it’s is mandated by the constitution if the evidence is there. The evidence is overwhelming and incontrovertible.

If the Democrats do win the election, it will be due, in no small part, to a backlash against the GOP. Leading Democrats are saying they don’t intend to do anything about these problems?!!

If this isn’t a joke, the status it deserves, it is certainly some of the most depressing rhetoric I have heard from the Democratic leadership in their six years of functioning as a GOP doormat.

Why bother having an election? Why not just let the crooks in power finish the job of gobbling up all the wealth and destroying democracy here and abroad? And the Democrats are reacting to their self serving rhetoric and going on the defensive??!!

After completely destroying American’s trust in their government, the amoral opportunists that make up today’s GOP are pinning their hopes on a “don’t trust the Democrats, they’ll mess things up” message. That’s chutzpah! It’s also what amoral opportunists do. They never give up trying to manipulate the situation in their favor no matter how hopeless their situation is and no matter how culpable they are. They have no discernable scruples, shame or morals and they never quit.

HOWEVER, these Democrats are absolutely nuts for acting like the GOP are the gold standard in governance and for promising to continue their extremism, dishonesty and failed policies like the war and the economic train wreck the GAO is predicting.

Given the timing, the eve of an important election, it is quite possibly one of the most self-destructive policy statements I’ve seen the Democrats make in their long history self immolation. By saying not much will change they have given Americans an excuse to stay home during the less glamerous midterms. They have given Americans absolutely no reason whatsoever to give Democrats control of congress.

The odor of this sort of self-hatred and defeatism usually emanates from the DLC.

They are ones that counsel the stand up candidates we love to shut up, putting their poll numbers into free fall, making it easier for the GOP to steal the election.
They are the ones that orchestrate the isolation of stand up Democrats like Conyers, McDermott, Feingold and Boxer.
They are ones that give us the candidates who will play their big money game instead of the ones we want.
They are ones that pay under performing consultants to give bad advice that loses them election after election.

My paranoid thought is that the DLC are GOP amoral opportunist moles.

Perhaps the DLC and the DINOs are only sending a signal to the corporate bad actors, war pimps and energy crooks that they are in bed with that there is nothing to fear from a Democratic congress instead of trying to undermine a Democratic victory.

I don’t think the incompetent/mole DLC can succeed in turning aside an angry and disgrusted electorate The polls say no. The people I have talked to doorbelling say no. The most frequent question what party do you represent. The overwhelming response is a smile when I say Democrat.

If we want a Democratic congress to make a difference, we are going to have to delouse and de-fang the DLC, ASAP. The time to get busy is right after you’ve had that glass of Champaign on Nov. 7th, win or lose.

Don’t buy the nonsense that Democrats should wait until there’s a Democrat in the White House. If we don’t get rid of the people in the party who are once more preaching appeasement, the Democrats will never have a president in the White House. Bush and Cheney will be ranching in Argentina instead standing the dock at a war crimes tribunal where they richly deserve to be.

If a Democratic congress were to do the job it is constitutionally mandated to do and the job the nation expects them to do, Bush and Cheney will be impeached and the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi will be the president.
