Foley Gets His Tit Caught in a Wringer

Rep. Foley used his power and position as an elected representative of the American people to gain access to minors for sexual purposes. It’s unethical, immoral, disgusting and criminal.
His colleagues knew about his disease and covered it up, putting hundreds more children and minors at risk. That’s an abrogation of duty and aiding and abetting a criminal by every member of the House of Representatives, which appears encompass not only the speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert, but most of the Republican House members.

Their collective hubris has endangered their entire political party; probably the only good thing to come out of this shameful mess.

Foley is hiding in alcohol rehab, claiming that alcohol made him do it.
It's absolute rubbish. Alcohol affects your hearing, your co-ordination and judgment and over time changes your body chemistry so that you become dependent.
It does not make you a pedophile. Pedophilia is not alcoholism or even homosexuality. A pedophile is someone that believes that children are appropriate sexual partners and desirous of sexual congress.
Buying this simplistic explanation can have terrible consequences.

Pedophilia is a disorder of the mind that is present with or without alcohol intake.
Though I don’t believe in punishing people for suffering from a mental illness but I do believe that people who harm others should pay their debt to society and should be prevented from causing any more harm.

It is notoriously difficult to treat pedophiles. There is no known cure. They should never be allowed unsupervised access to children.
They need years of therapy and behavior modification to be able to function responsibly in society and require monitoring.

For decades the Catholic sent its acknowledged pedophile priests to a rehabilitation center near Albuquerque New Mexico. After a period of time they were released back into the community, often allowed unfettered access to children. The result was that Albuquerque suffered a high incidence of abuse of parishioners.
Googling “Albuquerque pedophile priests” will give you a window into what can occur when inadequate measures are taken to protect children and monitor offenders. The explosive pedophile scandal is a direct result of bad science, perpetuation of power and misguided protectionism

Foley most certainly has no business anywhere near the House of Representatives. Mercifully he resigned though the damage done by year of looking the other way by House members is likely to play itself out for some time.
There are issues of abuse of power, flawed judgment and vulnerability to blackmail and manipulation. I question the judgment of every member of congress who helped this man hide his affliction.
Should any of them be trusted to legislate what is best for you and I when they are guilty such complicity? I don’t think so.

Flawed elections, one party government and excessive incumbency has spawned an epidemic of criminal activity, shocking legislation and provided a license for perversion. This US congress is on a fast track to becoming a half way house for crooks, phychological cripples, compulsive liars and fools.
They have shown no ability or willingness to police themselves, much less any other branch of government. Absolutely anything goes. There is rampant criminality that would make a Chicago gangster blush and perversion that would make a sex worker reel.

Foley is just the tip of the iceberg. It 's past time for voters to repeat the clean sweep of Congress of the 70's. It is past time for Americans to demand that those that violate the public trust pay a heavy price for their actions.

Every nation has its fools, its criminals and it aberants. Successful nations don't give them unfettered access to power or reward them when they predictably misuse it.
