MR. OBAMA,
an ongoing series of letters to the president.
In spite of what you are saying publicly it appears your administration is more interested in blocking real healthcare reform than in implementing it. Asking captains of industry to "play nice" is not reform. It does nothing to correct the imbalance of power which is currently all in the hands of hugely profitable corporations. These companies exist only to make money. Delivering quality care at reasonable prices is not part of their charter. You have done nothing to empower yourself, healthcare professionals or patients. Taxpayers will be stuck with a huge bill that will do little to correct current problems and much to fatten the bottom lines of corporate balance sheets. The deals you cut will leave Americans at the mercy of whoever occupies the Oval Office. The quality and availability of healthcare should not depend on secret meetings and unqualified promises.
